a note from our editor in chief

Beloved Women,

ENHANCE Magazine is going on a short hiatus.

You may or may not realise it, but the entire ENHANCE team are volunteers. No one gets paid to produce the magazine; it is fully a labour of love. Our amazing team serve ever faithfully just to be a blessing to you. Any and all profit from the magazine supports worthwhile causes, which is just lovely!

No shortcuts are taken though; it is our commitment to produce a world class magazine for you. I am sure that you will agree that the end product is both beautiful and full of amazing articles. We think that it is second to none, and that is how we aim to keep it for you.

However, at this time our amazing Assistant Editor Katrina Meade, who has served you so faithfully for the past 21 issues is moving into a new season with other responsibilities. Her role is huge, and we have not as yet identified a suitable volunteer replacement with her high skillset and with the time available to carry the workload involved. This just goes to show how much Katrina has served you over the past few years, so we want to take this opportunity to honour her highly. Thanks Katrina so much.

With this in mind, we are putting the magazine production on a short hiatus until we find a new Assistant Editor willing to put their heart and soul into the magazine.

THANK YOU for your support and we will be sure to contact you as soon as production recommences.

Kasey Mac

Editor in Chief

Grace Never Goes Out Of Fashion

Grace Never Goes Out of Fashion

Words: Bobbie Houston

It’s 4am and I find myself awake and praying for my children. Nothing intense, just mindful of them as I often am lately.

I used to sleep soundly from the moment my head hit the pillow till it was time to arise, but these days I often find myself awake in the early hours of what is the new day.  The words in my spirit this morning … “GRACE NEVER GOES OUT OF FASHION”.

GRACE… it was PREPARED for us before the foundations of the world, it watches over us HERE AND NOW (ever ready to be drawn upon) and it WAITS FOR US IN OUR FUTURE.

Grace isn’t merely a formula, a force, a prayer prayed over food, or the ‘She’ spoken of in the beautiful U2 song (that I personally love and ministered from at a Colour conference a few years back now).  Grace comes to us in the person of the Lord Jesus.  He is our Grace, He is our enabling Strength, He is our Wisdom, our Provision and unmerited Favor. Through Him “we live and move and have our being”… and  in ways we might never have imagined had we not opened our hearts and invited His presence in.

My prayer for you at 4am, is that His GRACE will overshadow, sustain, strengthen, enable, counsel and empower you for what lies ahead in this fabulous “new year”.

2 Corinthians 12 says that His grace is all sufficient and made perfect in our weakness.

As with all “truth”, such verses are beautiful, romantic and gorgeous.  They deserve to be circled, highlighted and memorized… but they “come to life” when drawn upon from places of challenge or need. No one in their right mind would ever wish challenge or need upon another - but as Joyce Myer once said, “kiss your wounds, because they teach you the deep places in God”. And it’s the deep places, the not so lovely or enjoyable places, the challenging and stretching places that are BATHED IN GRACE.  You’ve just got to look for it and draw upon it.

It’s been prepared for each and every one of us.
It’s available for us here and now.
And it awaits us on the many and varied and fabulous paths ahead.

Love always,
Bobbie

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV) But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
